Using Sysprocesses to look at Waits

 

Sysprocesses has a couple of different wait columns that confuse people.  This page should help to ease the confusion. 
 
waittype
a binary col that indicates the resource being waited on.  You can google to determine what the string representation of the binary is equal to...but it really isn't necessary to (keep reading)
lastwaittype
a string representation (decoded) version of waittype...with a caveat.  If the waittype is 0x0000 then lastwaittype is truly the last resource the spid waited on which is probably not what it is currently waiting on.
